Can't see mouse pointer and host key not responding

Post by noiram50 »

Hi! On Ubuntu 8,10 host, XP SP2 installed guest . Since I installed VBoxGuestAdditions.iso I cannot see mouse pointer but mouse still active. And I never been able to switch between host & guest with the host key (R-Ctrl). Idea

I've disintalled the video driver and the mouse pointer appeared but my mouse and keyboard are sticked to the guest. The host key does not work
Somebody have an idea

Version of VBox?
On some occasions you need to install the GA a few times over.

I'm having the exact issue. When I uninstalled guest additions, I get my mouse pointer back but I'm unable to switch out the guest OS by hitting the host key. I reinstalled guest additions and the issue returns.

You could try VBox 2.2.4 or an older GA version like 2.08

It turns out it was my USB Device filters I had setup for the guest, I removed the one I had set for my Microsoft keyboard and mouse. That resolved the issue.

I upgraded to VBox 2.2.4 and my cursor is visible and I can switch from Vbox to Ubuntu easely. I cannot give more reason on the succeed of the solution.
