Network only works for inbound data

Post by i386 »

Hi,

VBox is great software emulator. The only problem I found so far, however quite seriously, is that it's unable to send data through the network at normal speed, although the incoming traffic is absolutely normal.

For example I can easily pull a 7M file from LAN nearly instantly, but put it back will cost ages (even a 400K file will cost approx. 2 min). This is the case no matter what protocols I use, e.g. Windows Share, FTP, HTTP, etc. So I assume it's a network problem.

For diagnostics I disabled the QoS and Smart authenication from Windows network properties, but this still won't help at all.

Obviously it will be extremely useful if anyone can sort this out or provide a workaround..

I am running VBox under FC6 2.6.20.2948.i686 with XP pro as a guest, using NAT.

Maybe a workaround

I experienced a similar issue with outbound traffic being slow. So I changed the network type to "Host Interface" and created a bridged network on my linux host (instructions can be found in the VirtualBox user manual).

Once I had my "tap" devices and the bridge working, then the network seemed to work as expected.
