Hello all,
I'm running VirtualBox 2.1.4 on a Windows XP host, and I've just installed Fedora 10 on a new virtual machine. I can log in to Fedora, which runs pretty slowly, but if I make any attempt to browse the web or otherwise access the network from within the guest, VirtualBox crashes, and I get the "VirtualBox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close" error message. Sometimes this is accompanied by a kernel panic message in Fedora, sometimes not.
Can anyone suggest how I go about diagnosing what's causing the crash? I had a quick look at the VB logs, but they didn't seem to have any record of the crash.

With such a message there are details, either directly via a button or via the Event logs, when we have that we can figure out whats going on.ptipper wrote:"VirtualBox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close"

OK, there were a number of error entries in the Event Log generated by VirtualBox, all with the following details:vbox4me2 wrote:With such a message there are details, either directly via a button or via the Event logs, when we have that we can figure out whats going on.ptipper wrote:"VirtualBox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close"

Re: VB on XP host crashes running Fedora 10 guest
I assume you are using NAT for the guest, could you try Host interface networking?

Re: VB on XP host crashes running Fedora 10 guest
I changed to Host interface networking, and that seems to have done the trick - thanks a lot! I guess the crash is a bug that should be logged, right?vbox4me2 wrote:I assume you are using NAT for the guest, could you try Host interface networking?
