Shared folder with Ubuntu guest

Post by Cubytus »

Hi to all,

as some people with other OSes here, I have trouble sharing a folder between my Leopard 10.5.6 and Ubuntu 8.10 running in VirtualBox 2.1.2.

Namely, I defined the shared folder as told in the manual, and tried to mount it in Ubuntu with the command:

Code: Select all

sudo mount -t vboxsf VBox /mnt/mak
The mount directory was created, but I end up with the following message in Ubuntu's terminal:

/sbin/mount.vboxsf: mounting failed with the error: No such device

Can anyone help out?

Have you installed the guest additions ?

My way: "You live as long as you learn".

Are you sure the share is defined properly? Try it with as less complex characters as possible, so try it with lowercase characters only (a-z).

There...I did reduced VBox to vbox, but it didn't helo at all. There's no space in the full adress, either.

Still impossible to mount shared directory.
