Windows XP guest gives black screen

Post by ayahla »

Hi,
I installed virtualbox, and then windows XP on my macbook. It worked fine at the beginning, except that I couldn't get it to be widescreen, so I fiddled with the XP resolution a bit, and tried to install the guest additions, but then it told me that micrsoft suggests I stop because it wasn't checked for compatibility. I did stop.
After shutting off the guest I tried to start it up again and now I get a black box. (The windows logo comes up but then instead of getting the desktop I get a black box)
What do I do???
I restarted my mac, and tried opening it again, but it's still the same.
I'm not such a techy so I will be very grateful if anyone could help,
Ayah

The problem is that the GA are installed for half of it. You should have selected to continue with the installation of the drivers. Driver signing takes time, and that's something Sun doesn't have when releasing VB.

I thought that might be the problem. So I deleted that virtual machine, made a new one, installed windows and GA. Now it's working fine. Thanks
