Starting with version 7.2.8, the windows of my virtual machines no longer remember their size until I shut them down! After restarting, the window size reverts to the default. Because of this, I’m still running the old Guest Additions 7.2.6 on some of my VDIs - they work without this issue. The new Guest Additions 7.2.14 are no exception - VDI window sizes aren’t saved.
If it matters, I have an AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT 12GB graphics card with the latest drivers on my Windows 11 - Adrenalin Edition Version 26.6.2

Yes, I can confirm this.

And as an "addon" - even there is info about "Fixed support for updated RHEL 9.8 and 9.9 kernels" in the ChangeLog for fresh version 7.2.14, I tried to install on RHEL 9.8 (kernels 5.14.0-687.26.1.el9_8.x86_64 and 5.14.0-687.24.1.el9_8.x86_64) and was unsuccessful. /sbin/vboxconfig is still ending with

Code: Select all

make[1]: *** [Makefile:1968: /tmp/vbox.0] Error 2
make: *** [/tmp/vbox.0/Makefile-footer.gmk:146: vboxdrv] Error 2
...so the same situation, as with previous 7.2.X VBox or 7.1.18/7.1.19 version :-(

And, what is interesting, the same problem (build of vbox modules ending with errors) under RHEL10.2 - with kernel 6.12.0-211.32.1.el10_2.x86_64 (and maybe older kernels, dunno). With the newest kernel 6.12.0-211.34.1.el10_2.x86_64 building of modules start to work again, it looks like...

Windows (64-bit 7 HPE SP1) can't verify the publisher of this driver software when installing guest additions...

I was installing in safe mode without network. I told it to install it anyways since it is just a guest VM.

@ant,

The warning message is likely due to your Windows 7 Root Certificates not having been updated. Software developers arev required to update their Certification Credentials regularly, but unsupported Windows OS no longer have automatic access to those changes.

You could try: https://github.com/ibay613/RootCertUpdater

This site might also be of help with a wide range of unsupported (by Microsoft) Windows versions: https://legacyupdate.net/

Ah, thanks. I will just tell it to allow the install/upgrade. There should be a warning message/tip about this during the install like when it warns about possible network disconnections?

I tried this on RHEL 9.8 with the newest development version (VirtualBox-7.2-7.2.97_174589_el9-1.x86_64.rpm), still the same issue. Really weird.
