How to give self admin privileges?

Post by AzyWng »

New to using VirtualBox. Currently using it on my Linux computer because I can't get Native Instruments or FL Studio to work right on Linux. However, when I try to install Native Instruments, I get a prompt saying I should enter Admin credentials to allow software to install.

How do I do this?

Inside the VirtualBox VM, you need to use the guest OS admin account, not your Linux host. If you’re installing Windows in the VM, log in with an Administrator account and enter that username/password when prompted. If you’re already logged in as admin, just confirm the UAC prompt.

Moving music production to a VirtualBox on Linux is a smart workaround for those stubborn VSTs. For that admin prompt, it should just be the credentials you set during the initial Windows installation. Have you already managed to get your MIDI controller recognized by the VM, or are you still focused on getting the base software installed first?
