From what I can remember, official support for Windows 8.1 was dropped with the initial release of VirtualBox 7.0, so the 'final maintenance release of Version 6.1.xx should be O.K. if your need is. to run 'older' VMs. However, you are likely to hit problems with any Linux VM's using Kernel versions released after the final 6.1 update; and current Windows 11 VM installations may also prove difficult/impossible.

Hi,
Thx for the info.

I already have a VM (for Win10).

I just wanted to update the actual VB to make it easier…

Your Windows 10 VM should be fine. It's the added requirements for Windows 11 which presented some installation difficukties with VirtualBox 6.1.xx as hardware workarounds had to be used, some of which may no longer work for the latest version of Windows 11 (25H2).

Good luck.

The last "unofficial" usable Windows 7 and 8.1 versions are

Installable:
VirtualBox-7.0.25-167672-Win.exe

Installer craps out. Files can be copied over from a working Windows 10 installation. Vbox service needs to be regsistered manually.
VirtualBox-7.0.27-168595-Win.exe

I doubt these versiona are available for download any longer so 7.0.24 for install and 7.0.26 for copy over.
