Actually, I didn't suggest that the Vista / Win7 choice made a difference to USB3. Note the change in paragraphs when I moved to a new subject.

You can user Other/Other and still have USB3 support on the guest, as long as you meet the requirements in your host (hardware, ExtPack, settings). Other than that minor detail, you're absolutely right, that's why I said "we're not getting the whole story here...".mpack wrote:WindowsVista-64 template was chosen.
I'll close this problem in my book as a PEBKAC, it has all the signs...
Hi!
Just wanted to say, that this topic solved my same problem I worked on for hours.
I got win7 64 host and win7 64 guest..
Deactivating usb3 solved my problem too.
The adapter has problems at the host system as well. (Temporary lost its connection to the plc.)
Since I deactivated usb 3, there was no error on the connection.
Same thing with usb to rs232 converters. They don't work 100% the same.

Hello,
I have the same problem.
The Siemens MPI programming adapter is constantly "busy" and I can't switch it to the virtual machine...
I see that the problem was solved by a few people by disabling the USB 3.0 options.
The problem is that I don't see an option to disable USB 3.0 in my BIOS. How can I do that?
Is there another way to take over this programmer from the host system to the virtual machine?
I tried to add this device in the VM settings in the device filters, I updated everything to the latest versions, but the problem persists...
Home system: Windows 10 PRO 22H2
Virtual systems: Windows 7 Ultimate
Virtualbox version: 7.1.4 (I also tried version 7.0.X and some older 6.X.X)
Laptop: Dell Rugged 5420

Hello,
I managed to solve this problem. Since I started using VB version 7.0 or 7.1 I have had a lot of problems - including the one in this topic.
After installing the older version of VB 6.1 (6.1.50 r161033) everything works great. What more can I say... I went back to the old version 6.1 and all the problems went away
