Virtualbox 7.1.97 r167446 (new GUI bug)

Post by FranceBB »

The new Virtualbox 7.1.97 r167446 development snapshot is featuring a brand new user interface.

Unfortunately, there's a bug, that is if you change any settings within the virtual machine and then you go on to click "ok" the following window pops up:

As you can see, the pop up window says "Keep editing" or "Discard changes", however while the first option (keep editing) brings you back to the menu, the second option (discard changes) doesn't discard changes but rather it applies them.

This pop-up is supposed to show up when a user clicks "x" to close the window and made some changes, however it pops up if the user clicks "ok" after making some changes, which is wrong.

Hi. Thanks a lot for reporting. Please note that you are testing a version of VirtualBox from our development branch. Bugs and missing bits and pieces are normal, expected.

Thanks for the report, this is fixed now and will be a part of subsequent test-build.

Yep, I'm fully aware, I'm just trying to play my role as part of the community by testing the various builds. :)
It's literally the least I can do to say "thanks" for making it open source and readily available to everyone.

New builds are available... and if you call that UI "brand new" then I expect you to find some more impressive superlative when the next batch will make it. Not yet imminent, but we're trying to get towards a "fast food-less" UI (no hamburger menus ;)).

Could you please bring back normal tabs? I understand you want to have them horizontally on the left, I'm fine with that, but that 10 page long settings dialog is just too (CPU) heavy.

I have a Ryzen 7 5800X CPU and the settings dialog is just a pain to use.
