Have you selected - PCnet-PCI II (Am79C970A) - as your network adaptor type?

That's the one that Windows 98se recognises, I should imagine the same is true for WinMe.

You'll probably have to run the new hardware wizard after changing the adaptor type.

These are the network settings I have. Still no internet in Windows Millennium???

Enable network adapter (Option Ticked)
Attached To: NAT
Adapter Type: Corrected to PCnet-PCI II (Am79C970A) (Thanks to Kurt_Aust)
MAC Address: 0800277493E1
Cable Connected: Option Ticked
Port forwarding: Never touched

Please tell me how can I get internet working, because whenever I try to install KernellEx4.5.2 it looks for downloading MicrosoftLayerUnicode.exe regardless if it is installed.
And this process does not complete successfully, so still need your help please???

Can you ping your router? If so network is up and running. Also try Ping 8.8.8.8 (Google servers)

Now most websites will no longer work as httpS is not supported by the ancient browsers that run on WinMe

But one you should definitely connect to is http://www.windowsupdaterestored.com/ specially built for Win 9x

Other than that use a proxy server such as http://kproxy.com/ that will convert httpS to http

'Ping' is a networking test command see: https://lazyadmin.nl/it/how-to-use-cmd-ping/ - All you need is your Modem/Router's IP Address which will be in its documentation, or the commonly used Google test 'ping 8.8.8.8' to test whether or not you have a working network connection. The fact that some ancient and no longer supported Internet Browser cannot connect to modern web sites does not mean there is no network connection; as that's more commonly a compatibility issue.

Best to use your favourite search engine for standard computing procedures not specific to virtualasation/VirtualBox as there are many online guides to choose from depending on how much you want to know/understand.

Heya friends,
It looks like this is the end of the road for me.
Some of you are probably laughing at me and saying "What an idiot"???
But I have been failed to figure out IP-address of my internet router.
I moved last October to this new apartment where I have found this router preinstalled without any user manual or any clue to how to figure out any troubles with it.
As for you guys who want to help here are some basic info regarding my router:

Icotera Model: i3560-81
S/N: 3560810018802
MAC: 00:0F:15:55:47:3D

You want to call me an idiot??? Or do something to help me out???

The responses you get from the ping commands previously confirm whether or not you have a working network connection. If you don't understand the responses, please post the details of your input commands and the responses received and I'm sure someone will be able to inperpret them for you.

As was mentioned earlier the fact that web browsers designed for Windows 98 (more than 25 years ago) are no longer able to display 'modern' web sites is to be expected. One exmaple is that those beowsers were designed prior to the implementation of many of today's common web security features and the introduction of secure https internet addresses, so the fact that Windows 98's Internet Explorer fails to display websites isn't an effective check for a functioning but limited network connection that may still allow you to communicate with other systems using the same network connection. Even the versions of Internet Explorer released for Windows XP through to Windows 10 are no longer fully functional and far are far from being secure for online use.
