Re: Discuss the VirtualBox 7.0.24 release here
7.0.24 is pretty much broken for me.
Install gives an error at the end. Seems to work despite it but did go back to 7.0.23 to be on the safe side.
Before I did go back I tried to install the Windows 7 x64 guest addtions. Installation fails with a signing error it seems.
Last good release VirtualBox-7.0.23-166085-Win.exe with guest additions 7.0.23-166058. Later 7.0.23 are broken too. Same for last 7.1.5 and 7.1.6
I did not find a log for the failed install on the host. Let me know where it is and I can attach it. Host is Server 2019.

Re: Discuss the VirtualBox 7.0.24 release here
7.0.24 guest additions for Windows XP x86 are broken and won't install.
As for the older ones, namely 7.0.22 and 7.0.20, they do install but they have the infinite loop bug where VBoxTray.exe goes crazy with the CPU cycles if shared clipboard is enabled. https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/22123
It's been 6 months but to this day the last stable guest additions version for Windows XP x86 remains the one shipped with 7.0.18 r162988.
I can confirm that reverting the guest additions to 7.0.18 r162988 while running 7.0.24 r167081 works.

Re: Discuss the VirtualBox 7.0.24 release here
Is there any reason why the Win Installer has nearly doubled in size from 106MB for 7.0.22 to 216MB for 7.0.24 ?
All the other installers have only changed by the usual 1MB or so.

Re: Discuss the VirtualBox 7.0.24 release here
Lot's troubles, no error messages
Host Linux 5.15.0-134-generic (ubuntu 22.04) (not wayland)
VM : Linux debian 6.1.0-30-amd64 (not wayland)
* lost copy/paste between Host and vm and between vm, i have to kill all vbox process in vm to recover the features
* same for auto adjust size of screen in multiscreen
* and after upgrade to 7.0.24-167081~Ubuntu~jammy -> some menu applications (in vm) are partially hide
i'll try to fallback to previous version ... but which one is "stable" ?

Re: Discuss the VirtualBox 7.0.24 release here
The reason is that the compression settings were in a way 'lost' during a larger installer rework. Purely affects the download size, doesn't mean that there's much more code or some such. As soon as we have a new test build next week it'll be back to the usual size.
