UNABLE TO INSTALL UBUNTU ON MY 2020 M1 MACBOOK

Post by mf137035 »

Hi! I've been trying to install Ubuntu (first the latest version 24.04, but have tried with the 22.04 as well) and it always fails to install. I tried installing it using the latest version of VirtualBox, but it just stays with a black screen and it doesn't display the menu to install Ubuntu. I ended up trying it in every single old version until I reached the VirtualBox 7.08 beta as it's supposed to be the first one to ever allowed it to work on Sillicon Macs. This time it did gave me the menu to install/start, but when I clicked it, it said a fatal error has occurred and that I needed to look for help in this forum. I attached the VBox.log for further info.

For M1 MacBooks you should use latest VirtualBox 7.1 and a Ubuntu installer for ARM64 CPU.
