Can't copy files to a shared folder under ArcaOS

Post by Blonde Guy »

Host: Red Hat Linux 9.4
Guest: ArcaOS 5.1.0
OS/2 Additions version 6.1.32

I installed the extension pack, and my ArcaOS 5.1 guest system. I shared my home directory.

I can copy files from the shared folder to the local ArcaOS drive. I can edit files on the shared folder with Lotus SmartSuite (I can save the changes.)

I cannot copy (control drag in WPS) files to the shared folder. When I try the system gives error Sys0266: The specified file was not coplied. A file with the new name exists in the shared folder, but it has 0 bytes.

I can move (drag in WPS) a file to the shared folder. If that file already exists in the shared folder, then I get Sys0266 error, otherwise the move succeeds.

Copying files works in either direction using command line.

Since you have modern OS'es (Linux, OS/2) you could try normal networking and see what that does for you (so without the VirtualBox GA). AFAIK the GA support copying but anything more is not guaranteed. In addition the EA could be an issue but typically (in my experience) not with ArcaOS. Perhaps you even already tried this ?

Edit: I tried this with VirtualBox and metal (OS/2 to Ubuntu): drag 'n drop works in both cases (ArcaOS 5.1.0). Along the way I noticed a warning about EA (in Help) but this did not get in the way of the intended operation.
