Heavy flickering on wayland (workaround)

Post by gacuxz »

There are some topics about Heavy flickering with likely different reasons. In my case flickering started after updating Virtualbox to 7.1.0.
  • Both Guest/Host are Garuda Linux (based on Arch)
  • In VM settings 3D Acceleration can't be enabled at the moment like described here viewtopic.php?t=112390 (can't remember it was enabled earlier)
  • Tried to reinstall Guest from scratch updating it till the date with no results
  • Guest has up to date Guest Additions installed from Arch's extra repository
  • Host is always working on Wayland
Flickering is only present if I login into Guest using Wayland session. And it flicks heavily if I move the mouse. There is no flickering if I login into Guest using X11 session.

Workaround
After logging in into Guest using Wayland sessions, just logout and re-login using the same Wayland session. Hope this will help someone.
