Issue with mouse integration when one changes the additions from the release/beta to a development snapshot or back

Post by Air Force One »

If one changes as described above, with previously changing the version of the VBox itself accordingly, one needs one more manual reboot of the guest to enable the mouse integration. The first reboot after installation doesn't enable it. One can actually see it if one activates the input menu before the reboots; one can see the mouse integration item in the menu grayed out on the reboot or enabled.

Too little information here ... what guest exactly? Do you have a VBox.log after installation the Guest Additions in question?

Once again, a step-by-step description:

Install VBox 7.1 beta over the 7.0.21 test version (I have a Windows 10 host with the latest updates)
Start the VM (Windows 11 23h2 with the latest updates)
Update the GA from 7.0.21 to 7.1
Do the reboot at the end of the installation
The mouse integration is grayed out
Do the additional manual OS reboot in the guest
Now one has a mouse integration

This happens in the both directions, so going from the snapshot to a new release or test version causes the same issue. This happens from December 2023 on, so one could see this with the 7.0 test and development snapshot versions already.

I added my logs from the session.

Just tested with 7.0.21 164642 and 7.1.0 164697. This issue is still here. Reboot of the VM after the 7.0.21 GA installation, restart after the installation of the 7.1.0 GA. Just the same: after the first start there is no mouse integration, one needs to do one more reboot or restart after the major version switch of the GA's.

I just tested the new test build (7.0.21-164815) and development snapshot (7.1.1-164842). Done the restart with 7.0.21 and reboot with 7.1.1. It just the same. I created the ticket.
