I raised this issue at least a couple of years ago if not earlier.
Windows XP emulation is quite slow in VirtualBox for some reasons.
Consider this simple test case:
* WinRAR 5.91 32 bit, built-in benchmark
* Windows XP 32bit; I/O APIC: enabled; 1 or 4 guest CPUs
* Windows 10 64 bit; 4 guest CPUs
Check the results:
* Windows 10: 5245KB/sec
* Windows XP: around 4000KB/sec, i.e. 25% slower.
XP emulation is still slow

Re: XP emulation is still slow
Please provide VBox.log for all your issues. Otherwise the probability that anyone can reproduce or investigate in a productive manner is pretty close to zero.

Re: XP emulation is still slow
This is reproducible with default settings for these Operating Systems.
Host OS: Fedora 40, Linux 6.9.8
CPU: Ryzen 7 5800X
This is also reproducible with the following CPUs: Ryzen 7 3700X, Ryzen 7 7840HS and multiple Intel CPUs.
No idea how a log file could help.
