Good day everyone,
I'm having an issue using my iPad's magic keyboard in Vituralbox when I RDP into my Windows machine. I have no issues with the keyboard and outside applications, but none of the keys register in Virtualbox. I'm trying to run a Windows Server 2022 VM if that helps. I've done some research, but it seems that there are no answers for this. Please let me know if anyone else has experienced anything like this.
Thank you!

This almost sounds like you're running Virtualbox on your iPad.CanOfBeef wrote:using my iPad's magic keyboard in Vituralbox when I RDP into my Windows machine.
Are you using an iPad app to RDP into a Virtualbox VM running on a Windows host?
And what RDP server are you accessing? The Virtualbox RDP served from the host IP address and set up in the VM's Display settings? Or the native Microsoft RDP served from the VM's IP address?
And does the iPad remote client send keys to the Windows host's Notepad? Does it send keys to the VM's Notepad?
Re: iOS To Windows RDP Keyboard Issue
Sorry for the confusion. I'm using the Microsoft RDP app to connect to my Windows VM host from my iPad. I'm connecting to the host IP and then running Virtualbox. Keyboard works fine on the VM host, but not in the actual Server VM.

Re: iOS To Windows RDP Keyboard Issue
Thanks for the clarification. So it sounds like:
Keyboard on the iPad RDP client runs the Windows host but does not get into the Virtualbox VM.
Do you have a Windows PC around that you can try RDPing into the Windows host and see what happens?

Re: iOS To Windows RDP Keyboard Issue
So, it works perfectly when I RDP into the host machine from a Windows laptop.

Re: iOS To Windows RDP Keyboard Issue
OK, thanks. So this looks like some kind of issue with the iPad RDP client. What it is or how to fix it I wouldn't know, regrettably.
Re: iOS To Windows RDP Keyboard Issue
I got around this issue buy buying the Jump Desktop app for iOS. I use it to RDP, but it seems to pass the keystrokes over correctly. Thanks for the help!

Re: iOS To Windows RDP Keyboard Issue
Great! Glad you're up and running.

@CanofBeef
Can you say if you did anything specific with Jump Desktop to get the keystrokes to pass through to your VM. I have the same issue and have tried Jump, but I am seeing no keystrokes inside my VM.
Thanks!
