Hi all,I'm new on the site and really hope to find a help from you guys ! I already have Win2k,WinXP,Win98 and Ubuntu Lucid running fine under VirtualBox 3.1.6 (Host OS is Win7 Ultimate 64 bit) but my attempt to install Nextstep 3.3 is stuck.I downloaded Nextstep 3.3 iso and 7 floppy disks (Boot disk,Drivers disk,Addl drivers disk,Beta drivers disk,Pc card install disk,Moto boot disk and finally Core drivers disk).During the installation it is asked to select the correct drivers for the hard disk and the CD-ROM :the HD is detected and registred but I have problems with the CD-ROM.
I wish I could add a screenshot of my virtual machine...in any case I have the following indications at the end of Nextstep bootup :
sd0 : VBOX CD-ROM 1.0
Registering : sd0 at Target 0 LUN 0 at sc0
Registering : sd0a

Re: how to setup NeXTstep
I'm back again....I found that NeXtstep runs under VMware 6 and in the installing procedure it is said to setup the hard disk as IDE 0:0 and the cd-rom as IDE 1:0......how is it possible to specify that on virtual box ?......I hope not to be obliged to change virtual machines application.....

GOOD NEWS......NEXTSTEP 3.3 RUNS WITH VBOX !!!!! WHAT WAS WRONG IN MY MACHINE SETUP WAS THE AMOUNT OF RAM AND VIDEO RAM....PUT 256 MB FOR THE RAM AND 64 MB FOR THE VIDEO.FOR THE TYPE OF IDE CONTROLLER CHOOSE PIIX3.....I'M ACTUALLY GOING THROUGH THE REST OF THE SETUP (NETWORK....)

Re: how to setup NeXTstep
I got NextStep 3.3 to run with the following:
On macOS Sonoma (Intel) with VirtualBox 7.0.14:
System:
Base Memory - 128 MB
Boot Order - Floppy, Optical, Hard Disk
Chipset - PIIX3
Pointing Device - PS/2 Mouse
Display:
Video Memory - 64 MB
Graphics Controller - VBoxVGA
Storage:
Floppy - I82078
Hard Disk - BusLogic SCSI - SCSI Port 0
CDROM - BusLogic SCSI - SCSI Port 1
Audio:
Audio Controller - SoundBlaster 16 - Enable Audio Output
Network:
Attached to - NAT
Under Advanced:
Adapter Type - PCnet-PCI (Am79C970A)
After attaching the Floppy Boot/Install Disk and Install CDROM
Go through the install process keeping the following in mind:
When Selecting the Driver for the CDROM and Hard Disk select the BusLogic PCI SCSI Adapter (v3.31) - you will see (Dev/Func/Bus) values.
I was able to get NextStep 3.3 to install with the parameters above. With later versions of OpenStep 4.x, there are IDE drivers for the Hard Drive and CDROM. I didn't see these drivers for NextStep 3.3.
The advantage of NextStep 3.3 is this versions is what Steve Jobs used in his Demo Videos that are available online. You can keep up.
Also, I got a color video at higher resolution with this download:
github(dot)com/vcarosadev/VBoxVideo/blob/master/build/NEXTSTEP_VBoxVideoDriver.img
Download the RAW Image.
I have not yet played with the network part yet.
