E_INVALIDARG(0x80070057) while dual booting

I've an external HDD. If I create a VM in a linux host OS with all the files in HDD, it'll run smoothly in that OS but if I try to turn on same VM from windows host OS, it'll show the error E_INVALIDARG(0x80070057). It happens vice versa too. How do I fix it so that it runs on both OSes?
