Connecting to Cisco Switch from Linux VM

Post by slplswan »

Hello,

I am trying to manage a physical Cisco switch with Ansible which is installed on a Linux VM. The switch is connected to the PC with an ethernet cable. SSH is configured on the switch and working fine. I'm also able to ping the switch from the host PC.

However, I'm unable to reach the switch from the Linux VM. I tried setting up a bridged adapter, but the Linux VM would not have any network connection

Then I setup a static IP for the bridged adapter in the same subnet as the switch to make the adapter work. Still the VM is unable to ping the switch

I tried turning the promiscuous on and off, still no luck. I'm almost sure the problem is in the VM since the host can connect to the switch just fine. But I'm not sure where else to look in the VM configurations.
