A project has been announced which offers a version of VirtualBox which uses KVM offered by the Linux kernel by default instead of using VirtualBox' own kernel modules which makes many people disable Secure Boot.
You can download it from GitHub.
This is work in progress and some features are not working or result in crashes.
Some Linux distros have already expressed their interest in it and will include it soon.
I really want to hope Oracle will incorporate it.

This could be what is being discussed here: viewtopic.php?t=111043
Interesting, Birdie! Sounds a bit like Hyper-V or the Apple hypervisor.

Yep I read the article the other day. I think leveraging on KVM is definitely the right move and would make everyone's life easier.
I really hope Oracle welcomes the change and moves into this direction too.
