Where can I download guest additions for 6.1.50?

I been looking for guest additions for 6.1.50 and can't seem to find it, I'd appreciate it if someone can provide a link.

Also, how do I check which guest additions are already installed? Please list the steps.

There is no need to download the Guest Additions, they are included in the VirtualBox app on your Mac and are matched to that version of VirtualBox.

1. Start your VM.
2. Make sure the VM window is in the foreground.
3. Open the Devices menu and select "Insert Guest Additions CD image ..."
4. If there is no Devices menu the goto step 2

You will then have to mount the CD image in your guest VM and run the appropriate version of the GA installer.

It actually was in the foreground when I initially looked for it, but now I see it!

When I click on 'Insert guest additions' nothing happens. Does this mean, there is a GA
installed? I want to confirm which GA is installed. It could be 7 instead of 6.

What happens on inserting the CD image depends on the OS you are running in the guest VM. You will have to use the guest OS to mount the CD and then run the GA installer for that OS.

If you are running Windows in the guest then File Explorer (I think that's what it is called) is the tool to use.

I don't fuss too much about what GAs are currently installed - it should not hurt to re-install the GAs (which match the version of VirtualBox that you are running) over the top of what is already there.

If you think you *really* need to know what version of the GAs you have currently installed then that is a function of the OS you are running in the guest. In Windows this is usually available in the Task Bar. Linux, BSD have different methods.

Alternatively you could run your VM, close it down cleanly and then look in the VBox log for that session - that is awkward unless you are familiar with the log format.

As a further alternative, you could take a look at the GuestProperty section in the .vbox file, which is much smaller.

I been struggling to get windows to load on 6.1.50 for some time now which is the reason I'm looking into GA.
I suppose I could delete the VM and start from scratch as a last resort? Wasted more than enough time with
this.

In another thread (viewtopic.php?t=111006&start=15) you were given a suggestion of how to boot your VM in Safe Mode which will hopefully enable you to install the VirtualBox 6.1.50 Guest Additions on top of the currently installed 7.0.14 GAs.

Please review that thread and try installing the 6.1.50 GAs in your VM.
