Hello everyone!

All recent kernels complain that the "Intel PRO/1000" ethernet driver is unmaintained.

Is there a replacement? what should we use instead of the default Intel PRO/1000?

When you finally get onto the desktop, does the VM have internet access when using the Intel PRO/1000 network card?

(If the error message is coming up during boot, it's possible that drivers available during boot are limited.)

Sure, it works fine. Just asking if there is a replacement.

If it works fine, then there is nothing you need to do, unless you really need network access at the specific time the error shows.

FWIW you could try all the other network adapters in the Virtualbox adapter type dropdown, to see what happens.

All the intel ones produce the same unmaintained hardware error, but they work fine.

The virtio-net has a new driver in the kernel, but last year when I tried it, it caused massive packet loss, so I haven't tried it since then.
