Interesting. Our VMWare/VirtualBox installations are unattended via Packer, so don't end-up with GUI installation issues. Anyway, it is clear that additional testing is required and more safe to stay at LTS. As long as there is no solution, we can expect nightmares for a wide number of users...

Apparently fixed in VirtualBox 6.1.50 from today

I'm late to this party, from what I've seen elsewhere (concerning other Linux flavors I play around with), I have to wonder if these are framebuffer issues with the newer kernels, and I've read others adding "fb=false" to the grub boot line entry to get past the problem. Very happy that this is now fixed for you, and even happier that 7.0.14 is out for me.
