organizing snapshots and VMs

Post by terridev »

I have to admit I'm a bit lost in the configurations on my Vitual Box. I only have one VM. I have several snapshots in several directories and I don't know which one corresponds to what. The sum of my snapshots is 180 GB yet my VM is theoretically only 72 GB. How can I find my way around and clean up? Thanks

First, don't delete anything in the File Manager unless you want a broken VM. :D

If you post the VM's .vbox file, we may be able to see the snapshot files the VM uses:

Right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show in Explorer/Finder/File Manager. Zip the VM's .vbox file (not the .vbox-prev file), and post the zip file, using the forum's Attachments tab. (Configure your host OS to show all extensions if the folder that opens does not show a .vbox file.)

FWIW Virtualbox defaults to putting the VM's snapshot files in the Snapshots subfolder of the VM folder.
