VM fails to start after windows update

Post by adamp »

Linux vm was working without problems. Had a windows update this morning and now the vm fails to load. Host is windows 10 enterprise.

Result Code:E_FAIL (0X80004005)

I've tried rolling back the update, uninstalling & reinstalling VB, re-disabling hyper-v. Nothing worked.

I've attached the vboxhardening file.

Update: 3d is disabled & I tried disabling Nested Paging. Neither made a difference.

Any help greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Adam

For a test, uninstall the SentinelOne software, reboot the host and try to start the VM. Does the problem persist?

Unfortunately, this is a corporate machine. That option is not available to me.

Talk to your bosses about it. If they agree that the VM should be running, they can get IT to unblock Virtualbox.

Thanks for your time & assistance. Problem is not solved, but I moved the VM to another PC and it is working fine there. Would be nice if it worked on mine, but I don't have time to debug this.
