Re: Problem on sharing files btw Windows VM and Linux Host
What happens when you try to transfer files? Host to VM? VM to host?
What does "transfer" mean? Move the file into the shared folder then move it out on the other OS? Open the file while it is still in the shared folder?
Are the permissions on the Linux host open enough to allow you to share a host folder?

Re: Problem on sharing files btw Windows VM and Linux Host
copy files from Host to VM, only a link created
Copy files from VM to Host - no action, files not copied
Transfer -> copy or moveWhat does "transfer" mean? Move the file into the shared folder then move it out on the other OS? Open the file while it is still in the shared folder?
The setup is similar to files sharing btw Linux Host and Linux VM. It works without problem btw Linux Host and Linux VM.Are the permissions on the Linux host open enough to allow you to share a host folder?
How to make a further check? Tks

Thanks for the info. This sounds like a Linux thing, we'll need a Linux guru on this one.
Re: Problem on sharing files btw Windows VM and Linux Host
There are many Linux ways in the past. Samba is one of the solution.
Following document provides a detail instruction,
How to Share Ubuntu Public Folder with Windows 11
https://geekrewind.com/how-to-share-ubu ... indows-11/
I'm in anticipation to find whether it can be solved in VirtualBox

Re: Problem on sharing files btw Windows VM and Linux Host
Please start the VM from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Run until you see the problem happen, then shut down the VM from within the VM's OS if possible. If not possible, close the Virtualbox window for the VM with the Power Off option set.
Right-click the VM in the main Virtualbox window's VM list, choose Show in Explorer/Finder/File Manager. In the "Logs" subfolder, zip the VM's "vbox.log", and post the zip file, using the forum's Attachments tab. (Configure your host OS to show all extensions so you can find the "vbox.log", not "vbox.log.1", etc.)

I'll perform the test as advised later. Thanksscottgus1 wrote: ↑4. Dec 2023, 19:32 Please start the VM from full normal shutdown, not save-state. Please advise how to do it. The Host is Ubuntu 22.04 desktop.(Configure your host OS to show all extensions so you can find the "vbox.log", not "vbox.log.1", etc.)
Thanks

Re: Problem on sharing files btw Windows VM and Linux Host
The old log, host extension problem, and Extension Pack version problems are the same as viewtopic.php?p=544177#p544177
Guest Additions are installed, and the Virtualbox Shared Folder is automounting:
Based on both topics, I think this is a permissions problem on the host. A Linux guru may be needed to suggest diagnostic steps.
