drag and drop error freezes virtual machine

Post by harald123 »

Hi,

sometimes, when I drag inside the VM something too fast, for example a browser tab to left or right, or click on the scroll bar and drag it fast down , the below error comes and it is over with the vm, it freezes and only with a reboot it works again.

I searched in the settings for relevant items, but can say only that display is set to max 128 mb if it helps.
drag and drop is enabled bidirectional for the vm.

Can there be something adjusted on the virtual machine regarding drag and drop or is it more likely a linux os issue?

VB version: 7.0.8.r156879 on windows 10 host
Guest Additions: 7.0.4r154605
Guest Linux Mint 21 Vanessa

The only "adjustment" that Virtualbox users have for Drag n Drop is the dropdown to enable/disable it, or limit which way it goes.

Try to upgrade the VM's Guest Additions to the host's Virtualbox version. If the issue still heppens, then this is more likely a bug.

You can post a Bugtracker ticket where you also post a VM vbox.log where the error happens.

A piece of information that may help the devs is if this happens when the "Host > Guest" or "Guest > Host" setting is used instead of bidirectional.

ok, will try to reproduce it at will, as it happens rarely.
If I succeed will provide the requested information.

From what I read on other topics it might be also related to memory or to maybe to the usb controller used.
