Did you set the Controller to IDE?

Re: Can't install Windows Vista Beta 1
0x00000074, Mario Rosso's log shows the VM to be IDE. You can see the storage settings in the [Devices] section of the log, at the beginning.
At the very beginning of the log, the host disk files used by the VM will be shown, like these from Mario's log:
A VM using SATA would look like this:

Now, search the log for the VM's disk files, looking for the entries in [Devices]:00:00:03.257309 File system of 'C:\Users\fross\VirtualBox VMs\Windows Vista Beta 1\Windows Vista Beta 1.vdi' is ntfs
00:00:03.258165 File system of 'C:\Users\fross\Downloads\en_longhorn_beta1_dvd.iso' (DVD) is ntfs
This shows Mario's VM using the IDE controller.00:00:03.300096 [/Devices/piix3ide/0/LUN#0/Config/] (level 5)

A VM using SATA would look like this:
If you want to see what the other controllers look like, you can set up a VM making the VM disk file use a different controller and start the VM without an OS installed. Once you get to the "load a CD/ISO" box, close it, then close the VM powering it off. You can then see what the [Devices] section looks like for that controller.00:00:05.626219 [/Devices/ahci/0/LUN#0/Config/] (level 5)

I don't know what are you saying... I tried to install Windows Vista Beta 1 on IDE instead of SATA? So I must using SATA or IDE?

Re: Can't install Windows Vista Beta 1
I was explaining to 0x00000074 how to read a log to find out what disk controller a VM is using. Yours is using IDE.
Virtualbox defaults to using SATA for Vista VMs, so that might be an interesting change you could try. Though Vista ought to understand IDE quite well.

Re: Can't install Windows Vista Beta 1
Nothing, after file copying, when needs to restart always gives me DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, then when I reset always on the screen:
Completing installation...
Do not restart your computer during this time.
CPU always goes to 0% after some time, but if I reset (one time happened, I don't know if happens every time) gives me an error saying that setup failed, then when restarts always gives me DRIVER_POWER_STATE FAILURE.
Maybe cannot be installed on VirtualBox... Such as OSes Windows 2000 Beta 3 Build 1983-2000 or other OSes (because seeing comments on this video: "https://youtu.be/dbcLY1fwzTE" and on this site "https://winworldpc.com/product/windows-nt-2000/beta-3" they got Guru Meditation when installing Windows 2000 Beta 3 Build 2000 on VirtualBox). Maybe some OSes such as Windows 2000 Beta 3 Build 2000 or other such as Windows Vista Beta 1 gives a BSOD...

Re: Can't install Windows Vista Beta 1
Could very well be. Your Vista is a beta build, and Virtualbox is only developed for final releases. We have seen Vista in VMs before on the forum, so Vista does work, just not perhaps the betas.

But such videos on this channels "https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrIMGT ... rTw/videos" he installed Windows Betas such as Windows Whistler, Windows Longhorn, ecc. while they work but very unusable on VirtualBox, while some other can't be installed as they get a BSOD or VirtualBox returns a Guru Meditation error.

Re: Can't install Windows Vista Beta 1
I'm sorry, I crossed this with another topic where someone was trying an OS beta. Please ignore the 8045 thing.
Is this a full OS install or an upgrade install that expects XP to already be installed?

I was trying to do an installation (not upgrade) but I know that VirtualBox can't run Windows Betas, except what he did.

Re: Can't install Windows Vista Beta 1
OK, thanks. Your VM is set to XP, not Vista. Try again in a new VM, using a Vista VM setting.

Re: Can't install Windows Vista Beta 1
I set to Vista but still doesn't work. And I have a problem with a beta and not with a final. But I say again, maybe cannot be installed on VirtualBox, such as Windows 2000 Beta 3 Build 2000...
