BeOS and ArcaOS re-installation

Post by pjwatk »

Hello,

I have an Intel-based Mac and approximately 18 months ago, I successfully installed BeOS 5.0 and ArcaOS 5.0.8 using VirtualBox (VB), using information on the web. For BeOS, the info was obtained from AdaFruit while for ArcaOS, the info was on the company's site.

After upgrading VB, I ran into issues with the software - BeOS would not boot, and the ArcaOS screen size was smaller.

I decided to re-install BeOS and ArcaOS.

In relation to BeOS, the CUE is not recognised during installation.

For ArcaOS, the screen size still remains small. I was wondering if anyone else has had these issues and, if so, what was the resolution?

Thanks in advance, Peter.

Considerable change has occurred recently in Virtualbox on Mac, forced by Apple's no-kexts policy. Did you also upgrade the Mac OS, too? What Virtualbox version were you running, and what version are you running now?

I have updated the MacOS software since I have had the Mac.
Presently, I have been using the current version of VB, and I don't recall that I was using when I did the original installation/s.

The one thing that I can try, is to re-install an older version of VB and see if that works. Not certain but could be worth a try.

Thanks for the reply as well - appreciated :)

Just to be explicit: VirtualBox 7.x requires MacOS Ventura (or later), and vice versa.

Ventura flips the paradigm on Virtualbox. The Apple Hypervisor must be used, thus you get the green turtle, and apparently trouble with some VM OSs.

Please report this on the Bugtracker, so the devs can know.
