I followed your manual driver install method and it went in and the resolution is back to what it should be now.
As a note, 7.02 extensions would install but they showed the errors scrolling during the install of the extensions, and I never had any trouble with the 6.x extensions.
There must be something going on with the 7.04 automatic extensions installation procedure. Hopefully this will get solved before the next update. Clearly the driver is OK because it works fine installed your way.
