Windows 7-VM auf Linux-Host stürzt ohne Vorwarnugn ab

Post by Mr. Brooks »

Hallo,

Could you please zip the log and post the zip using the forum's Upload Attachment tab? Then I can run it through my log scanner.

Setze mal die Ressourcen des Gastes herunter: Nur 4 GB statt 8 GB RAM. 3D und USB deaktivieren.

Dann ein neuer Startversuch.

Wurde am Host außerdem schon der RAM getestet?

In addition to Stefan's thoughts, you're also running the Ubuntu fork of Virtualbox:
00:00:00.880796 VirtualBox VM 6.1.16_Ubuntu r140961 linux.amd64 (Dec 17 2020 22:06:23) release log
This may not be a cause for this problem, but it is something to keep in mind.

Your VM has all 6 host physical processors in the VM:
Host CPU status:
00:00:01.092110 CPUM: Logical host processors: 12 present, 12 max, 12 online, online mask: 0000000000000fff
00:00:01.092110 CPUM: Physical host cores: 6
00:00:01.092111 Full Name: "AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core Processor "
Guest CPU settings:
00:00:00.934885 NumCPUs <integer> = 0x0000000000000006 (6)
Reduce to 2, for a test.
00:00:00.900104 Guest OS type: 'Windows7_64'
Paravirtualization:
00:00:00.954472 GIM: Using provider 'KVM' (Implementation version: 0)
Paravirtualization is a communication channel provided by modern virtualization-aware OS's to talk to the hypervisor they're running on. Windows 7 does not speak KVM. If Windows 7 speaks any paravirtualization it would be Hyper-V. Go to System Settings, Acceleration tab, Paravirtualization Interface, set to 'Hyper-V'.

Try the VM again, then if it does not run, please post another log.

VirtualBox (6.1.16_Ubuntu) and the VirtualBox Extension Pack (6.1.18) must be the same version. Otherwise, crashes are to be expected. I'd suggest to uninstall all VirtualBox components (VM will be kept) and install the current VirtualBox 6.1.20 from the Oracle download site.

Didnt work.

I dont think the extention is the Problem, it worked with the same Version very good. I think its a Problem with the Windows. I could installiert an older backup. Works.

If so, that's a fluke. The Extension Pack version must match the Virtualbox version for reliable operation.

This may not necessarily be causing the problem, but it is an aberration.

Please try to run the VM again, then post a new vbox.log.

Also, make a new VM, install Windows 7 in it and see if that new VM runs.

i can boot a virtual machine with windows 7 - thats an older restore point of the "problem-vm". This works with the wrong extention pack and with the correct one.

The problem-vm doesnt boot with extention pack version 6.1.16.

I think its a problem with the windows itself. but booting into save mode also doesnt work.

I give up at this point. I have the older versio running and thats ok. Tanks for the help.
