Running VirtualBox 6.1.12 on MacOS Catalina. Installed Big Sur Public Beta in VM. Guest Addition installer fails to install needed assets in Big Sur. Seems to run then at end get Installation Failed.
I find VBoxGuest.kext in /Library/Extensions.

I don't know how to fix this, but I do know that the Virtualbox developers develop for final releases, not betas. You can try the test builds.

Thanks for the suggestion. Note the instructions for the test builds indicate turning off SIP in recovery mode to allow system extensions to load since the builds are not signed. However I cannot find anywhere in docs or forum how to boot to Recovery Mode when running in VirtualBox. There doesn't seem to be a way to do the necessary Command-R.

If Command-R is anything like Windows' F8 for Safe Mode, you'd just hold down Command when the guest starts and keep mashing R. Just a guess, though...

You'll probably have to manually go to the UEFI shell and select the appropriate EFI boot loader.RandyB wrote:However I cannot find anywhere in docs or forum how to boot to Recovery Mode when running in VirtualBox.
