Running this command in my command line:
VBoxManage setextradata global VBoxInternal2/Audio/ALSAAudio/BufferSizeMs="100"
and restarting my Win7 VM does not help. Did I miss some other step from the solution?
I'm on version 5.2.34_Ubuntu r133883
Installing Pulseaudio fixes my issue though, but I hate Pulseaudio's guts and its unpredictable behaviour so I'm not going back to that.
In the meantime, the sound blaster in my Win98 VM still seems to have sound just fine.
No sound on 5.2.32 (#18820)
Re: No sound after update
I should note that the issue exists even in the latest and greatest 6.1.2 when I get it from the website. Without pulseaudio, there is no sound. (Except for the VMs that use SoundBlaster emulation!)socratis wrote:It looks like you're using the Gentoo-fork version of VirtualBox. You can either ask in their forums/channels for help, or completely remove/uninstall/delete/purge their version and install the official version from the Linux Downloads section of VirtualBox.00:00:00.296413 VirtualBox VM 6.0.14_Gentoo r132055 linux.amd64 (Nov 10 2019 23:39:23) release log
Re: No sound on 5.2.32 (#18820)
@Shamedy: Unfortunately I will not be able to help. However, I can only say it works on my system in the version 6.1.2 (I currently use it). My system:
- pure alsa (without pulseaudio)
- hardware: LGA 1150 with z97 chipset
- gentoo (host) and the Virtualbox comes from gentoo's repo
- BufferSizeMs="100"
- Sound through monitor (Display Port)
- VM is ubuntu / windows10
I hope you get the problem solved.
