There's nothing in Virtualbox itself to do this.
Approach this problem from the standpoint: "How can I hide any program to the tray?"
Also look at Third Party Applications, there may be something useful there.

Why not simply close it? It reloads quickly, and doesn't need to be open to keep a VM running. You can pin it to your taskbar or start menu if you want.
