[Resolved] Virtualbox not working on 3 computers

Post by Electric Tom »

I have tried installing the new version of virtualbox on three different Windows 10 computers, and when I create a vm I get the same error message on all three computers. I have tried different iso's and different os's. I have tried turning hyper-v on and off in the features. I have tried going into the bios and turning the virtualization settings on and off. I have tried installing and reinstalling virtualbox. Virtualbox used to work on at least one of the computers, but it has been a long time since I used it.

The error message is something like
"The virtual machine 'blank' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code -1073741819 (0x0000005) More details may be available in ...log.

Result code E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Thanks for any help.

We'd need that '...log' to see what might be up.
Zip it and post the zip file using the forum's Upload Attachment tab.

It looks like it was the antivirus. Kind of need my antivirus so I'm not sure what I need to do to remedy this.

Got it going. Had to contact the antivirus company, and make some exclusions in a memory protection area.

Marking as [Resolved], although I have the feeling that a new, more realistic tag should be applied: [ItsThoseFreaking3rdPartyLeachAppsYetAgain]...
