Have VirtualBox v6.0.10.r132072 (Qt5.9.5) on Ubuntu 18.04
The manager screen is too big, looks like it's in a really low resolution. All other applications are ok. When I go to make a new VM, the Next button is not visible.
Have tried uninstalling and re-installing but doesn't make any difference.
I have a feeling I tweaked something at some point because one of my VMs was unreadable due to having really tiny text, but I can't for the life of me remember what...
Thanks for any help or suggestions... Google has a hard job distinguishing my search from those of someone wanting to change Guest resolutions but my problem is the resolution or scaling of the actual VirtualBox manager screen.
Thanks!

Can you post a screenshot so that we know what we're talking about? We don't need to see your whole desktop, just the area of interest. Also, if you're using a HiDPI setup, please shrink the image by at least 50%. And use the "Preview" to make sure that your image looks alright and it's legible.

Just in case you don't get the answer you need in this forum: I searched Google with 'linux scale application window' and got a lot of results matching your problem description ...YoungJules wrote:Google has a hard job distinguishing my search from those of someone wanting to change Guest resolutions

Re: VirtualBox manager screen scaled/low res?
Can you try the Test Builds, or the All Distributions (for 6.0.10)? They both include embedded the Qt libraries, and don't depend on the system-installed Qt ones. BTW, what's the Qt version that you're using? It's recorded in the "About" dialog.YoungJules wrote:Have tried uninstalling and re-installing but doesn't make any difference.
On a more personal note, do you really think that this is "too big"? It looks just fine to me, very similar to what I'm seeing on all my hosts, including a Mint19. I'm not on HiDPI though...

Re: VirtualBox manager screen scaled/low res?
If it's not "too big", then the font size in the window title line above is probably "too small".socratis wrote:On a more personal note, do you really think that this is "too big"?

Re: VirtualBox manager screen scaled/low res?
It's too big if I can't see the buttons. The screen shot is all I see.
And to the person who said the text in the title is too small, well of course I had to scale down the images to post them up here. So the 'small' stuff around VirtualBox is normal and perfectly readable...if the screenshot were at 100%. It's all scaled down to 35%...

Re: VirtualBox manager screen scaled/low res?
I didn't say that. socratis question does make sense from the point of view of people who need larger fonts because of degrading eye sight. Reread my answer to that statement again.YoungJules wrote:And to the person who said the text in the title is too small

I should have thought about it.YoungJules wrote:Found it... export QT_SCALE_FACTOR=2
In my notes I have the following as a snippet:
Marking as [Resolved].export QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR= QT_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTORS= QT_SCALE_FACTOR=
