No option for 1920x1080 display with ChaletOS guest

I'm using Win7 as host and I've installed ChaletOS (a Linux variant) as a guest. In ChaletOS there are options to change screen resolution but the available options vary depending on which option I select in Virtualbox settings under display/graphics controller. I have tried all options there but none allow 1920x1080 when running ChaletOS. I know from trying different Linux versions as guests that the option selected in display/graphics controller in Virtualbox have to be right to get all available screen resolution options in the guest OS but none of them are working for ChaletOS to allow 1920x1080.

Any ideas how I might get this to work. Is it likely to be a Virtualbox problem or is it specific to ChaletOS as I can make it work for other guest OS?

Did you install the Guest Additions in ChaletOS? We need to see a complete VBox.log, from a complete VM run, where the problem occurs:

• Start the VM from cold-boot (not from a paused or saved state) / Observe problem / Shutdown the VM (force close it if you have to).
• With the VM completely shut down (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".
• Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response. See the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form.
