Warning during Windows 2000 VM installation
I am a first-time VirtualBox user, running Windows 8. I was trying to install a Windows 2000 VM when I got a warning that the installation could damage or destroy my OS. Is this a serious danger, or is it only a warning inside the VM and has no effect on the host/physical system?

That is the standard message when you install an OS. The installation of an OS will overwrite what is already on the system disk. If you are running the installation inside the vm, the OS will be installed on the virtual disk of the vm. It will not affect the OS on the physical machine which is hosting the vm.
