[Solved] iphone visible as usb device but not seen by windows 10

Hello,

The issue is that iPhone 6 is not seen by ITunes nor by File Explorer in Windows 10 guest.

Am running Ubuntu 18.04 Host and VirtualBox Version 6.0.10 r132072 (Qt5.9.5).

After installing VBox Extension and enabling USB 2.0 support, the iPhone finally appeared in the VirtualBox -> Devices -> USB menu, tagged "State: Available". That sounded very promising.

The log is attached but it does not contain the string "apple" at all.

I reinstalled the "usbaapl64.inf" driver as recommended by Apple Support but after this exercise the Apple Mobile USB Driver still does not show up in Windows Device Manager. I suspect that is a key issue.

I was on phone with Apple Support for close to an hour but the conclusion was that they were not willing to forward this issue to their Engineering department

Is there anything more I can provide?

One more question, has anyone actually got this working? Am on iOS 12.4 today.

Is it worth taking this up with Microsoft Support? I forecast they will say the same as Apple...

Reduce #guest CPUs to 2.

In the VM settings, USB: Enable USB3 (xHCI), and add a filter for your iPhone. Don't make it too precise, it needs to be loose enough to match any sub device on the phone.

I simply did what you said plus made a simple filter as instructed in the guide.

That USB guide did not show up in my searches. On the other hand, the forum search throttling is extremely strict right now which seems counterproductive.

Forum internal search doesn't index three letter words, so searching for USB will fail. It's a limitation of phpBB3, the forum software this site uses.

Better to search using Google, e.g. "USB problem site:forums.virtualbox.org". The FAQ is the top hit when I try that.
