I have a windows 2019 GUEST setup on my virtualbox 6.0.8 R130520 (Qt5.12.2) which is running on an Ubuntu 19.04 HOST. The video on the guest OS won't work in virtual box *except* in the preview pane.
I can RDP into the system and video works just fine but if something happens and I lose network connectivity or RDP I'm stuck using the preview pane to manage the server to get it back on. (A daunting task given how small the preview window is.)
Is this a known bug? If not can any one advise me as to why the main console won't work? I'm attaching a screenshot to demonstrate what I mean. Notice how the virtual box console appears to be on the login screen (I can't interact with that window at all, either via keyboard or mouse) - but as you can see in the preview window I'm actually logged in and I can click on various areas of the screen in the console window and I'll see things changing in the preview window.
Thanks!
Brad

Re: Windows 2019 Guest Video Issue
I fixed my own issue If anyone else is experiencing this issue, shut down your VM and edit it's settings. Go to disable and check:
"Enable 3D Acceleration"
"Enable 2D Acceleration"
Start your VM back up.

Re: Windows 2019 Guest Video Issue
The real question is "Why were they disabled?" They are enabled by default in Windows 10/Server2019 guests.
