Bidirectional copy and paste enabled but not functional

Post by drs@dcneuro.net »

Running OS Sierra 10.13.6 on a mid-2011 iMac 21 inch. Using current version of virtual box with guest additions added and enabled. Have bidirectional copy and paste enabled. However, I cannot copy from Windows applications and paste into OS applications.

What am I missing?

We need to see a complete VBox.log, from a complete VM run, where the problem occurs:
  • Start the VM from cold-boot (not from a paused or saved state) / Observe problem / Shutdown the VM (force close it if you have to).
  • With the VM completely shut down (not paused or saved), right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager and select "Show Log".
  • Save only the first "VBox.log", ZIP it and attach it to your response. See the "Upload attachment" tab below the reply form.

What are you trying to copy/paste? Only simple text works, i.e. Notepad <-> TextEdit.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

Before I forget, moving this to "OSX Hosts" from "OSX Guests". Your host is a Mac, your guest is a Win7-64...
VirtualBox VM 5.2.30 r130521 darwin.amd64 (May 13 2019 16:12:54) release log
...
00:00:18.650068 VMMDev: Guest Additions information report: Version 5.2.14 r123301 '5.2.14'
You need to update the Guest Additions (GAs) in your guest. And don't forget to eject the GAs "CD" from within your guest after you're done installing the GAs.

Guest additions are installed and I removed the CD virtual image. I still do not have copy and paste or drag and drop functionality despite being enabled.
