Latest version crash on startup

Post by rabol »

Hi

I have just installed the latest version 6.0.6 on top of a already working 6.x version
On startup I get the following error:
Failed to acquire the VirtualBox COM object.

The application will now terminate.

Cannot register the hard disk '/Users/XXXX/VirtualBox VMs/homestead-7/ubuntu-18.04-amd64-disk001.vmdk' {ed43b298-a4f8-407a-b5e9-d6fff976bb97} because a hard disk '/Users/XXXX/VirtualBox VMs/homestead-7/ubuntu-18.04-amd64-disk001.vmdk' with UUID {e1c6a589-b0b9-46cc-ad4d-fcf6e5cbe855} already exists.

Result Code: NS_ERROR_INVALID_ARG (0x80070057)
Component: VirtualBoxWrap
Interface: IVirtualBox {d0a0163f-e254-4e5b-a1f2-011cf991c38d}
Callee: IVirtualBoxClient {d2937a8e-cb8d-4382-90ba-b7da78a74573}
I have tried the following:
delete the folder in question
delete virtual box and install again
delete virtual box, clean everything i can find related to virtual box and install again

How can i 100% completely remove all information that Virtual Box saves so I can get it installed correctly ?

Thanks in advance.

Can you please try 6.0.8? There's a bug that was fixed matching almost your description, ticket #17908: Optional entries in the <MediaRegistry> section may prevent VM registration.

If not, I'd like to see the ".vbox" file...

If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.
