Virtual Box mit VMDK / Could not read from the boot medium! System halted.

Post by HeinzL »

Hallo allerseits

Could not read from the boot medium! System halted.

How old is the old PC? Perhaps it uses a UEFI BIOS and GPT partitions, in which case it would require the EFI setting in VirtualBox.

Another possibility is that you made an image of a partition, when it needs to be an image of the entire drive including boot partition and partition map.

Or both!

Please post a VM log file. With the VM fully shut down, right click and "Show Log" in the GUI, save "VBox.log" (no other file) to a zip, and attach the zip here.

Du solltest dem Gast etwas weniger Speicher zuweisen, z. B. 3 GB.
