Installing again and again and lack of space

Post by zak100 »

Hi,
I have reinstall my Mobisec machine from ISO file but it can't install correctly because I am getting two errors:
1. Every time I run the machine it asks me to install it again. I have attached the screen shot
2. Also the installation interrupted in the middle due to lack of space. Can somebody please guide me how to increase the space of the virtual machine.

Zulfi.

Before we get into this problem, please remember that if a solution is offered in one or two of your previous questions, it's common courtesy to let us know if our proposed solutions worked, and not leave things unanswered. Otherwise people might lose the desire in helping you...

Second, I already told you that you shouldn't include a screenshot of your whole desktop, if we just need to focus on a single dialog box. Focus on the details, do your homework, crop and resize the picture and make our lives easier. It's even better if you include the text of the message actually instead of the picture...

Now, to your problem... The "No space left on device" comes from your host, not the guest. Your host is the one that's running out of space! The installation aborts and then you have to reinstall the guest. But since you don't have space on the host, your installation is going to fail. Again and again and again, until you make some space on your host.

Hi,
Thanks for your response.
<please remember that if a solution is offered in one or two of your previous questions, it's common courtesy to let us know if our proposed solutions worked, >

I just asked two questions. Your help was in the middle in the first one because I got USB problem so I have to reinstall the system after I read a post from techrepublic site and destroyed all my installations. So I can't complete it. So I am doing it again. I can't go far because of incomplete installation.

Other question was of reinstallation, I solved myself because I got very upset and tried everything and I got the answer for my problem. I would check that question again. If anybody ask for solution, i would surely reply. I want to document all my problems.

<t need to focus on a single dialog box. Focus on the details, do your homework, crop and resize the picture and make our lives easier.>
Sorry about that I am a new to Unix but for improving I have to email all these so that I can access it on my windows system. It may consume lot of time. I found image processing tools very difficult on Ubuntu.

<It's even better if you include the text of the message actually instead of the picture...>
Some times there is lot of text so I find it easier to copy and paste.

<The "No space left on device" comes from your host, not the guest.>
You mean its from my Ubuntu laptop. It has 1 TB of harddisk. Actually I made a mistake while deciding for the storage of VM. My friend told me to allocate 15GBon the storage step and I did it last time but this time I did it alone so I just allocated 8GB while installing my Mobisec. But you maybe right. Following is the output of my df command:

There are two issues:
1. How to get more space
2. For reinstallation, I need all steps for installation from ISO.

God bless you.

It looks like you're using the distro's fork version of VirtualBox. You can either ask in their forums/channels for help, or completely remove/uninstall/delete/purge their version and install the official version from the Linux Downloads section of VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads).
