CentOS uncompression error / system halted when trying to install

Post by DasJunior »

Hi all,

Do anyone have experience in installing CentOS 7.5 1804 - On my Virtualbox when i use the ISO from CentOS i get an uncompression error / system halted error when trying to start up with the iso file to install CentOS.

I've tried some different stuff, increasing memory, disksize adding more CPU etc, but without any succes.

Currently config is 40GB dynamic VBOX disk, 6GB RAM, 2 CPU.

Advise is really welcome

Kind Regards

Please report error messages more accurately than that.

To my knowledge, ISO files are simple images of a CD and are never compressed. It is possible that certain files on the CD are compressed and unpacked by the installer. In that case the installer is telling you that the ISO is corrupted - so check the MD5 sum and download a new copy, check the MD5 again.
