Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and dkms

Postby jrkul » 17. Mar 2019, 13:33

I would like to install Virtualbox on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
Does Virtualbox install dkms or do I have to install it mysef?
The installation process is well described in the https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads website and in a https://wiki.ubuntu-it.org/Virtualizzazione/VirtualBox/Installazione website. The two procedures are identical, except the latter requiring the user to install dkms: is it necessary?

DKMS has not been required for some time.

I suggest when you have access to a user manual (a pdf copy is also installed with the software), and an official user forum, that you skip the third party provenance-unknown blog posts.
