The latest 5.2 test build already should contain the fix. Only the Guest Additiosn need to be updated, followed by a guest reboot.

do you also have a 6.x test build? I'd rather test the new version where the problems started for me :) I have already upgraded again to 6.0.4 :)

We now have a new 6.0 test build available on the https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Testbuilds page (>= 128880) which should contain the fix. Note that only installing the new Guest Additions of this build is required, followed by a guest reboot.

Please let us know if Skype for Business now works for you again. Thanks!

Hi! Thanks very much! I can confirm that the new guest additions build makes Skype for Business run again!
I disabled compatibility mode, then Skype did not work, then updated the guest additions, rebooted and it worked again.

Skype for Business is not starting for me with Guest Additions installed. SFB runs fine before installing Guest Additions.

The SFB startup screen runs, then nothing.

Ubuntu 18.10 host, WIn10 Guest. Vbox 6.0.4 w/Guest Additions.

@Boinkster
You need to actually read the whole thread before posting a "me too". Two posts above yours, pentagonik mentioned that the issue has been addressed, not in the 6.0.4 release that you have, but in a test build:

VM crash when using Skype for Business in SVGA with 3D acceleration

Post by eraser2021999 »

VirtualBox version: 6.0.4
Host OS: Windows 10
Guest OS: Windows 10

Hello!

Each time I use VBoxSVGA with 3D acceleration activated, when I start Skype for Business the guest machine crashes. If I deselect the 3D acceleration, the guest is running ok, but I don't have the option to share screen in Skype (I'm assuming because no 3D acceleration is used).
The error I'm getting is:

Code: Select all

00:01:07.717165 GIM: HyperV: Guest indicates a fatal condition! P0=0x119 P1=0x2 P2=0xffffffffc000000d P3=0xfffff40822af27f0 P4=0xffffe3018fa2cf00
00:01:07.717203 GIMHv: BugCheck 119 {2, ffffffffc000000d, fffff40822af27f0, ffffe3018fa2cf00}
00:01:07.717204 VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR
Currently I'm using a dual-display setup but I tested with only one display and I got the same result. There is no workaround to bypass this error and is getting a bit frustrating.
Does anyone has any clue regarding this issue?

Thank you!

What if you switch to the VBoxVGA (no "S") virtual GPU in the VM Settings » Display » Screen » Graphics Controller? Does it still crash?
 Edit:
I found a very similar thread that was dealing with your issue and I merged your post, in the "Windows Guests" area; that's where your problem is, not on your "Windows Host". Read the posts above yours to see that it's fixed in the TestBuilds. A little bit of searching goes a long way... ;)

Thank you Socratis for merging the post in the correct location. I guess I am too tired and I didn't noticed I chose the wrong section.

Regarding VBoxVGA, it does work, but the screen flickers each time I select another display (I use dual monitor setup) and sometimes when I'm scrolling. I also disabled G-Sync, but no success.
I tried also VirtualBox 6.0.5 (latest build) and although Skype doesn't crash, there are some serious redrawing artifacts.

With VBoxVGA? Really? That's interesting...

But as interesting as it may be, that should be the focus of a new thread, not a thread that has "Skype not starting". It's easy enough to create a new thread. We try to observe the "one thread per issue, one issue per thread" rule, keeps things simpler and more concise...

Hi,
Hope I'm not answering into the wrong place?

Setting: Linux Host - Windows 10 guest
Virtualbox: latest 6 test build with extension

Skype For Business crashes every time after a few minutes

Problem: launch Skype For Business - launches fine.
I open a video call - none else attends.
After a few minutes, the virtual machine crashes with the message "Aborted"
Attached the log - please note: no line is added to the log when the VM crashes.

Thanks a lot for your help.
