USB Result Code: E_INVALIDARG (yes, i tried add filter)

Post by czezz »

Hi everyone,

Host: Windows 10
Guest: Ubuntu 18.04
VirtualBox: Version 5.2.18 r124319 (Qt5.6.2)

I have been trying to attach CD/DVD over USB. Each try ends up with the error that I attached as screenshot USB.png
I tried add add USB filter but it doesnt help at all - screenshot filter.PNG
Added also VM log.
Any hints/ideas how to make it works?

"busy with a previous request" - something on the host is using the USB drive and the host OS doesn''t release it.

Remove everything except Name, Vendor ID and Product ID from the filter definition.
Disconnect the drive from the host.
(restart your guest)
Connect the USB drive to the host while the guest VM is already running. That way Vbox can grab it for the guest before something on the host blocks it again.

Please read the following thread: USB basics and troubleshooting, all of the posts.

If you still have a problem after reading through the whole thing, please follow the advice of the last post, #8: Asking for help and post the information requested.

Note what Martin said:
Martin wrote:Disconnect the drive from the host.

Connect the USB drive to the host while the guest VM is already running. That way Vbox can grab it for the guest before something on the host blocks it again.
Finally, see if you can set the CD in Passthrough mode in the VM Settings » Storage » select the CD from the left » click on the CD on the right » select host's CD » enable Passthrough.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.
Do NOT reply with the "QUOTE" button, please use the "POST REPLY", at the bottom of the form.
If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.
